Young triathlete qualifies for European Championships

Elliot Swallow qualified despite reducing his training to study for his GCSEs

New Hall Sixth Form student Elliot Swallow, has qualified for the 2017 ETU Sprint Distance Triathlon European Championships in Düsseldorf.

The qualification was achieved at Holme Pierrepont in Nottingham, the National Water Sports Centre. With 500 competitors taking part in the event, Elliot faced tough competition.

In the race, Elliot finished his 400m swim in 10th position and gradually gained pace in the field, over a 10km cycle and 2.4km run, to finish in 6th position in the Under 19 Age Category. This achievement, which secured Elliot’s European qualification, is all the more impressive considering the young sports star had reduced his training in order to study for his GCSEs, gaining excellent results.

Elliot was notified of his qualification by British Triathlon whilst training in Scotland for the Under 20s Triathlon Championships.
