Dauntsey’s School has officially opened its new state-of-the-art pavilion. The building contains eight changing rooms and a triple aspect social space, capable of seating more than two hundred people. Externally, there are sheltered spectator terraces. The pavilion has been designed to fit a number of purposes including sport, lectures, talks, concerts and dinners.

The structure, designed by NVB Architects from Frome, is a large building and yet merges cleverly into the landscape and has been designed to be environmentally friendly. It has an EPC of 21 (an extremely low ‘A’ rating), a sedum roof and uses a ground source heat pump to extract heat energy from the ground, via a series of boreholes, to provide heat for the underfloor heating and hot water system. 

Mark Lascelles, Headmaster at Dauntsey’s, said: “The pavilion is a wonderful addition to the existing facilities at Dauntsey’s and forms part of the final phase of our current development programme which includes the construction of a new teaching block, the landscaping of the Memorial Hall Quad and the renewal of the external stairs to our Music building. 

“Pupils, parents and the wider community will benefit from the addition of this wonderful facility through our sporting and community events.”
