A 13 year-old future tennis star, Holly Staff from Manchester High School for Girls, triumphed recently in an Under-16s Tennis Europe competition in Malta.
Holly and her partner won Gold in the doubles, and Holly came second in the individual tournament. The Malta competition followed a very successful tournament in Sweden when Holly finished third in both the singles and the doubles.
Holly has a string of tennis successes under her belt both nationally and internationally. She said: “I was really pleased with my performance in Malta. My European ranking has now risen to 147 in the Under-14s age group which is quite promising as I have only just turned 13.”
Miss Kelly Mottershead, Physical Education teacher at Manchester High School for Girls, said: “This is a fantastic achievement for Holly. Our School team, including Holly, achieved a Bronze at the National AEGON tennis Finals at Bolton Arena just over a week ago and I have been blown away with the standard of our girls’ game. They all truly deserve their success! We hope this inspires other girls to take up tennis.”
