Two year-11 students at Bedford Modern School recently took part in ‘Peace Child’, a musical performed at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza Scherr Forum Theatre in Los Angeles.
Bertie Ensor-Clinch and Henry Bridge joined the cast of a production built around the idea that young people from very different backgrounds can come together to find common ground.
‘Peace Child’ began life in 1982 and each new cast adds its own themes and topics, writing dialogue with the help of a professional writer. This year’s themes included gun crime, school shootings, racism and slavery.
“It was more amazing than I ever could have imagined,” said Bertie. “I met, lived and performed with children from several other countries, such as China, Mexico and the USA. I’ve had a completely unforgettable time and can’t wait until I hopefully go back to perform again and see all the amazing people I met throughout the whole experience."
