Llion Morris, George Watkins, Christian Cheesley, Matthew Stubbins and Freddie James travelled to Cardiff on Wednesday, May 17th, where they took part in a training session with the British and Lions squad before they headed off on their highly anticipated tour of New Zealand.
The Year 6 pupils at Rydal Penrhos were on the field for 45 minutes with the likes of George North, Sam Warburton and Owen Farrell before grilling the stars in a special meet and greet session during lunch.
Unfortunate to miss out were Will Tavernor and Oliver Davies, who were named first and second reserves for the trip, but demonstrated “fantastic humility and grace during the draw for the session”, said Prep School Head Roger McDuff.
He added: “This is a special experience for those who have been fortunate enough to gain a place at the session, and I am sure that George, Freddie, Matthew, Christian and Llion have got an enormous amount out of it. The Lions represent the pinnacle of rugby in the UK and for some of our pupils to have the opportunity to learn from them is something that will live long in the memory.”
