Harrison Catering Services recently hosted an ‘eat well’ day at Croydon High School with company nutritionist Dr Juliet Gray. Dr Gray gave talks to both upper-school pupils and years five and six in the junior school. These were followed by a smoothie station during morning break. Dr Gray, chef manager Gordon White and support chef manager Tom Davis made a range of fruit-based smoothies for the pupils, including strawberry, raspberry and blueberry, combined with natural yoghurt, bananas and a touch of honey. At lunchtime, two theatre stations were set up for the chefs to prepare a vegetable-based pasta dish for the girls to try.
Dr Gray has been working with Harrison since its foundation in 1994. She developed the company’s Eat Well Live Well training programme, which trains every staff member in how to prepare and serve healthier food. She also advises Harrison’s chefs on menu development. Harrison has provided the food service at Croydon High School for the past three years and the school has recently renewed the contract for an additional three years.
