The Falcons School for Boys Preparatory School in Richmond is celebrating an exceptional year after receiving 33 much coveted offers following the 11+ exams from renowned schools such as St Paul’s School in Barnes, King’s College School in Wimbledon, Latymer Upper School, Hammersmith and Hampton School.

A total of 28 boys sat the 11+ entrance exams and the 13+ pre-tests for top schools in London. A further nine offers were also made as a result of the pre-tests.

Three scholarships were also received, including academic scholarships from The John Lyon and Monmouth schools as well as a sports scholarship also from Monmouth School.

One pupil who had good cause to celebrate was 10-year-old Jay Mahan who sat eight exams and received offers from seven. He also sat a 13+ pre-test for Reed’s School in Surrey and received an offer to join in September 2019.

He accepted the offer from Ibstock Place School in Roehampton and will join in September. Jay’s father, Anil Mahan commented: “The school prepared Jay very well for the examinations he sat.

“Jay’s confidence in English, for example, has grown significantly since Year 5. He is now a good writer and is able to discern nuances of language and literature, including implied meaning. The team at Falcons have helped Jay achieve his successes, in particular Mr Etzinger.”

Everyone has worked very hard to ensure offers were received from these top schools and we are all proud of the pupils’ efforts and of the time put in by our dedicated staff - Deon Etzinger, Headmaster at Falcons School for Boys Preparatory School

Headmaster at Falcons School for Boys Preparatory School, Deon Etzinger commented: “This is an exceptional result, we are all so pleased for the boys as entrance for places is extremely competitive. Everyone has worked very hard to ensure offers were received from these top schools and we are all proud of the pupils’ efforts and of the time put in by our dedicated staff.”

To support families navigate the complexities of selecting a senior school, the school recently held a Senior School Information Evening giving parents the chance to meet 15 excellent prospective schools in one place during a single evening.

Mr Etzinger added: “This was a wonderful way for the parents to get to know more about the senior schools and gain an insight into the entrance exam procedure for the individual schools, before making a very important decision. It saves them time by allowing them to speak with the representatives whilst having the support of us all here at Falcons Boys too.”
