Girls' day schools to get £20m facelift

Pick Everard begins work on national framework for Girls' Day School Trust, starting with Oxford High School

Construction firm Pick Everard has secured a place on a £20m national framework for the Girls’ Day School Trust (GDST). 

The framework to deliver civil and structural engineering work is now up and running for the prominent group of independent girls’ schools. Throughout England and Wales, GDST has nearly 20,000 pupils in 24 schools and two academies. 

Mike Cullington, framework director at Pick Everard, said: “We are pleased to be given the opportunity to work with the Girls’ Day School Trust to help improve and maintain its impressive estate. 

“Because we have considerable experience and expertise in the education sector, including delivering a major schools expansion programme across the London Borough of Hounslow, we felt we were ideally placed to work on this framework. 

“We look forward to working with Girls’ Day School Trust and completing successful projects together.” 

Pick Everard will be delivering a variety of projects across the UK on the Trust’s estates for the next three years. This will include providing civil and structural design and advisory services from its national network of offices for developments on modern buildings to heritage structures. Further schemes will include refurbishing an 18th Century Grade I-listed mansion. 

Christine Sillis, estates director for the GDST, said: “We are looking forward to working with Pick Everard on a range of projects across the GDST estate. Their extensive experience in the education sector means they are well-placed to deliver integral services on our unique sites up and down the country.” 

As part of the partnership with the GDST through the framework, Pick Everard framework manager Natalie Clemson, will be offering advice and mentoring to pupils, drawing on her skills and experience in a senior engineering role to inspire them to consider a career in the construction industry.
