Representing Great Britain, Oliver, 11, who has now started at Plymouth College’s Senior School, was one of the youngest competitors in the continuous run/swim/run event. With a field of 18 in his age category from countries including Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Portugal and Russia, he won a silver medal in the individual Youth D event and gold in the team competition.
This follows a successful 12 months in which Oliver has become the GB Modern Biathlon Champion and runner up in the British Schools Modern Biathlon Championships.
Oliver said: ‘This was a tough competition and particularly difficult with the swim in a strong tidal current. However, I’m pleased with how I performed and I hope to compete in the European Championships and World Cup Tour again next year.’
