Future Stars Programme launches at Bolton School

Local accountancy firm offers internships to Bolton sixth form students

Bolton-based accountants and business advisors, Cowgill Holloway, has officially launched their ‘Future Stars Programme’ to an audience of sixth form girls and boys at Bolton School. The new venture provides a great opportunity for year 12 students to gain an insight into the world of business and finance.

Over the course of the placement, lasting three to four weeks, the successful applicants will spend time in each of the accountants’ departments learning about audit, tax, business recovery, wealth management, corporate finance and marketing. This invaluable opportunity will also include attending meetings, completing project work and shadowing partners and senior managers.

Rob Lord, Partner at Cowgill Holloway, said: “This is a wonderful opportunity for the year 12 boys and girls. Our work experience programme offers students the opportunity to spend time observing and working on real projects within all departments in our firm. The programme is designed for students who are considering a future career in accountancy and finance. It will hopefully allow them to narrow down their career preference even further. It will also provide a platform should they decide to apply for a graduate scheme after university.”

Students can apply for the placement by filling out an application form and are also interviewed by a partner, as if they were applying for a job.  Shortlisted students will then tour the Cowgill Holloway head office in Bolton and ultimately two overall winners will be chosen.
