GDST holds trust-wide netball weekend

Portsmouth High School hosts Girls’ Day School Trust Weekend for two netball squads

Portsmouth High School, part of the Girls’ Day School Trust (GDST), recently took two squads of Under 13 netball players to a Trust Weekend at Condover Hall, Shropshire in March.

The weekend consisted of a year eight netball tournament combined with many activities which the girls could access. They had the opportunity to meet other girls from across the twenty-four schools and two academies which make up the GDST. Despite a tough standard of netball, both squads got through to the Plate on the Sunday having played over seven matches during the weekend.

The girls also met England player Ama Agbeze, a 6ft defender with 66 England caps.

As well as netball, students spent time taking part in activities such as Zip Wire, Tunnels, Laser Maze, High Ropes and Conquest.

The netball weekend is just one of many events where schools across the GDST work with each other. Schools can link with others in a broad a range of joint activities including sports competitions, career and leadership conferences and subject specific seminars.
