A Perthshire school is commemorating a brace of anniversaries with the introduction of two new scholarships.
The first, named for Elaine Logan, Glenalmond College’s first female head, marks 30 years since the institution – founded in 1847 – first admitted girls.
Logan, the first woman to lead any Scottish coeducational boarding school, stood down as warden last year.
A new golf scholarship, meanwhile, celebrates the centenary of the school’s nine-hole golf course, designed by renowned course architect James Braid, whose work also graces the likes of Gleneagles and Carnoustie.
“Glenalmond has earned an enviable reputation as a school which consistently delivers very strong academic results but, importantly, our pupils also benefit from being well grounded, through an all-round education experience,” said current head, Hugh Ouston.
“Our scholarships reflect our desire to achieve this balance, so pupils leave us ready to make the most of life’s opportunities.”
To accommodate the new offer, Glenalmond College has extended the deadline for all 2020 scholarship applications to 17 February.
