A new principal has officially taken over at the founding college of the United World Colleges (UWC) international education movement – UWC Atlantic College in South Wales.
Peter Howe joins the college from UWC Atlantic College’s sister school, UWC Maastricht in the Netherlands, where he has served as Head of College for the last five years. His experience of international education in Europe goes back to 2005 and over six years at UWC Adriatic in Italy, he progressed to Rettore (Head of School) following earlier roles as Deputy Head, Director of Studies, International Baccalaureate Coordinator and Head
of Economics.
Peter inherits a school that is home to 350 international students who represent over 90 nationalities and cultures.
Speaking on the official start of his new role, Peter said: “UWC Atlantic College is a true pioneer of both the global UWC movement, and international education more generally. It is a privilege to have the opportunity to lead such a unique place, and to take over from John Walmsley, who has seen the college flourish under his tenure. I am hopeful that this recent good work can be built upon and that future success here will be shared across UWC institutions around the globe.”
