The British education brand has never been more in demand. Since 2000, international schools have increased by 70% and by 2027, ISC Research forecasts that there will be 16,900 international schools. This surge of international schools indicates an exciting time for British independent schools as they are leading the way overseas.

In 2012, Malvern College opened their first international school in Qingdao and have continued to expand internationally by opening schools in China and Egypt. I discovered their secret to success on page 25. I also had the pleasure of talking to some senior leaders at international schools about their current challenges and opportunities on page 16. From personalised learning to using the latest technology, their insight is worth noting.

Closer to home, Steve Wright picks out the top sporting highlights from independent schools across the UK on page 58. It has been another hugely successful sporting year and I am sure this will continue in September and beyond. Speaking of which, this issue marks the end of another school year.

As we all look forward to the summer, it provides an opportunity for reflection and relaxation. Consequently, Helen Jeys writes about why headteachers should lead by example when it comes to taking a break on page 30. I wish you all a well-deserved summer holiday and I’ll see you in September!
