Thursday 18th September saw 150 young golfers converge on Craigielaw Golf Club in East Lothian for the 17th playing of the Loretto Golf Academy Junior Championship and Simmers Cup – the UK’s largest schools and club competition for boys and girls in three age categories: Under 15, Under 13 and Under 11.
Over the last few years the Loretto Golf Academy Championship has grown in popularity, attracting young golfing talent from Sussex to Aberdeen and everywhere in between. This year’s competition was heavily oversubscribed and saw a waiting list of over 50.
Jonathan Hewat, Director of External Affairs at Loretto, said: “There was some quite remarkable golfing talent on display at our competition and I do congratulate all the competitors on their focus, enthusiasm and skill. We are delighted with the number of youngsters who wish to take part. We have plans to run this competition over two days in 2015.”
