New Head for Elms Nursery and Junior School

Mrs Faith Potter is set to take up the role at the Nottingham school in September

The Governors of Trent College profess themselves “delighted” to announce the appointment of Mrs Faith Potter as Head of The Elms Nursery and Junior School in Long Eaton.

She will be joining in September, taking over from Keith Morrow, who is taking up a new headship in Birmingham. Mrs Potter has over 25 years’ experience in primary education, and The Elms will be her third headship.

She has worked at a number of leading independent schools and is currently Head of Prep and Nursery at Abbotsholme School in Derbyshire, where she was also, for a time, Acting Head of the 2-18 school. Before that, she spent five years as Head of the Junior School at Nottingham Girls’ High School, responsible for over 300 pupils and 33 staff.

“The Elms’ energy, ethos and friendliness are very special and I always knew it was a school I wanted to lead.”

Faith Potter has an honours degree in Ecology and a PGCE in Primary Education and is married with two daughters. Outside school, her interests include family life, sport, hiking, and walking her three dogs, Tessa, Tilly and Sam.

Andrew Crompton, Chairman of Governors, commented: “Mrs Potter really impressed us at every stage in the recruitment process. She is deeply passionate about the education and development of young children. She balances aspiration for her pupils with concern for their happiness and we’re confident she will find new ways of adding even more to the first-rate education The Elms already provides.”

Faith Potter said: “I first encountered The Elms when I moved to Nottingham in 2010. Its energy, ethos and friendliness are very special and I always knew it was a school I wanted to lead. When the vacancy came up I just had to apply, and I’m so thrilled that I was successful. Both The Elms and Trent College have a wonderful atmosphere that combines the highest standards with a very strong focus on the individual, which of course is what the very best education needs to provide.”
