ConquerComputing launched at Education Show

Online tuition service launched to help teach computing at primary school level

The team behind online tuition provider ConquerMaths.com launched their new product ConquerComputing.com at the Education Show in Birmingham last week.

ConquerComputing is a new online resource developed to aid the teaching of computing in schools with primary teachers in mind. It provides teachers of any level of experience all the tools they need to effectively deliver the curriculum, including lesson plans, videos for learners, videos for teachers, worksheets and downloads.

The launch of ConquerComputing reflects changes to the UK national curriculum brought about in 2014 which stipulates requirements for computing and especially coding to be taught in schools from an early age, replacing ICT. This curriculum change presents problems for most teachers whose computing knowledge is limited to switching on a PC, sending emails and creating documents.

A survey by Mykindacrowd found that 54% of secondary teachers believed their students knew more about computing than they did. Teachers said they needed the support of government and business if they are to deliver the curriculum. In addition, 74% of teachers admitted to not having the right skills or time required to deliver the Computing Curriculum.

The creators of ConquerComputing say their product provides the answer to these problems, bridging the gap in teachers’ knowledge, providing a holistic, easy-to-use and cost effective approach to the teaching of Computing in schools from an early age.
