New Head at Saint Martin’s

Saint Martin’™s School announces the retirement of Jane Carwithen as Head and welcomes her replacement, Nicola Edgar

The Board of Governors have announced that Jane Carwithen, Head of Saint Martin’s School for Girls in Solihull, will be retiring at the end of August 2014. Since her appointment as Head in September 2005, Mrs Carwithen’s has ensured the maintenance of the unique ethos of Saint Martin’s, and encouraged the many innovations that have broadened the curriculum, such as the recently launched Performing Arts Centre.

Following an extensive search and recruitment campaign, the Governors have appointed Miss Nicola Edgar as the new Head of Saint Martin’s from September 2014. Miss Edgar is currently the Deputy Head at Westholme School, a position she has held since September 2008.

Miss Edgar brings a wealth of experience in all aspects of education, together with an in-depth knowledge of new developments in leadership, management, teaching and learning. Miss Edgar commented: “I am passionate about independent education and believe that girls flourish in a single sex environment. The move to Head of Saint Martin’s is a natural progression of my role as Deputy Head at Westholme.”
