Pocklington Pre-Prep welcomes three-year-olds

After the Pre-Prep’s success and due to popular demand, Pocklington will offer the Pre-School class to three-year-olds

Pocklington School is to extend its pre-school provision from September, welcoming three-year-olds to its warm and friendly Pre-Prep School for the first time.

The Pre-Prep, which is on the Pocklington Prep School site, has been open to four-year-olds since 2010. It will now also welcome three-year-olds into a Pre-School class for half and all-day sessions, as well as wraparound care from 8am to 5.45pm.

Ian Wright, Pocklington Prep School Headmaster, said: ‘The Pre-Prep has been a huge success since it opened to four-year-olds. We have decided to offer a Pre-School class for three-year-olds in response to parental demand.”

‘The Pre-Prep has a relaxed, nurturing environment with spacious classrooms and a lovely outdoor area. It’s also part of the Prep School building, which makes any transition to our Prep School a smooth one,” said Ian.

Pocklington Pre-Prep School has a generous teacher-child ratio and its caring, experienced staff encourage children to investigate, problem-solve and learn through activities which capture their interests and develop enquiring minds.

Sarah Cobb, Head of the Pre-Prep School, said: “Our priority is to ensure that every child is nurtured. We plan the curriculum around their interests and in response to their needs. This allows us to personalise children’s learning and help them make the very best progress in a relaxed and happy setting. Our greatest asset is our highly-trained, caring and committed staff, who give individual support and attention, so every child feels valued and encouraged. Children grow in confidence in our care, because they all have the opportunity to shine.”

The Pre-Prep staff follow the Early Years Foundation Stage to provide carefully-planned indoor and outdoor activities. Children access an exciting range of defined learning areas, both indoors and outdoors, for mathematics, construction, investigation, reading, writing, art, role play and understanding of the world.

The new Pre-School will be open term-time only and attendance is flexible, with full and half days available. Children attend a minimum of five half-day sessions per week and wraparound care (8am to 5.45pm) is available at an additional cost.
