Rydal Penrhos pupil putts on the style

Reuben Bather, a sports scholar and Golf Academy star, scored with a notable victory at the North Wales Schools’ Golf Championship

Reuben Bather, a Year 10 pupil at Rydal Penrhos, added to his impressive list of recent accolades by clinching the North Wales Schools’ Golf Championship in fine fashion.

The Welsh youth international was in fantastic form throughout and held his nerve to record a final score of three-under-par (68) to secure the crown.

It is the latest in a series of impressive tournament successes for the 15-year-old, who is preparing to represent Wales at a pair of high-profile competitions this summer as he looks to continue his exceptional development.

His fine run of regional and national results has also seen Reuben achieve a scratch handicap mark (-0.4) for the first time in his fledgling career.

Director of Sport, Allen Boyd, said: “Reuben’s game has really gone from strength-to-strength during the summer, with every competition success bringing more confidence to further enhance his reputations as one of the brightest young golfers anywhere in the country.

“The work he has done with our Golf Academy coaching staff, and the Strength and Conditioning team here at Rydal Penrhos, has done wonders for his overall game, and hopefully this is a trend that can continue in the coming months.”
