Saint Martin’s Senior School swimmers are celebrating becoming the Solihull Borough Overall Swimming Champions for the tenth consecutive year. 35 girls from Years 7 to Upper Sixth took part and every girl swam her best to gain valuable points for Saint Martin’s.
The Year 8 and Year 10 teams both swam brilliantly and were each declared Borough Champions for their age groups. The Senior team also performed well and were runners up. The Year 7 and Year 9 teams were placed third in the Borough.
Individually the following girls became champions for their stroke: Year 8 Lauryn Leedham, Backstroke; Carmen Whaley, Breaststroke; Francesca Donovan, Front Crawl. Year 10 Eve Dufficy, Backstroke; Giselle Barker, Front Crawl. Seniors Sophie Stables, Butterfly.
The Year 8 and Year 10 teams, Lauryn Leedham, Francesca Donovan, Carmen Whaley, Amelia Bogira, Eve Dufficy, Giselle Barker, Imogen Onions and Eve Armstrong, won both the Medley and Freestyle relays. The Year 8 team now go on to represent Solihull Borough at the Level 3 Games in March.
