Saint Martin’s School in Solihull has been ranked 27th in England and 1st in Solihull in the Department for Education’s latest rankings published last week. The league tables rank more than 5,000 secondary schools across the country for GCSE results achieved in 2016.
As well as achieving excellent rankings for GCSE attainment, Saint Martin’s also measured a progress score of +0.38 for students’ achievements between the end of GCSEs and A-levels. This placed Saint Martin’s in the top 4% of UK schools and highlights that students perform well above the national average.
Head of Saint Martin’s, Miss Nicola Edgar, says “We are delighted with our students’ results which showcase the excellent academic achievement of Saint Martin’s girls and the hard work of our teaching staff. As well as developing our girls academically, the school provides a nurturing and friendly environment for learning, encouraging all girls to succeed to their best potential.”
Across the rankings, single sex girls’ schools notably outperformed mixed schools with 41.2% of students achieving AAB with two facilitating subjects (those preferred by the Russell Group universities).
