Did you know that one in five children do no sport or physical activity in school each week? I was shocked to hear this statistic from Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson when I attended the launch of Fit for Sport’s Healthy Active Schools System, and I realised that something has to change.
Tanni is incredibly passionate about sport within schools, and it was a pleasure to hear her thoughts on preventing a generation of inactive young people. Read the entire story on page 11.
Elsewhere, this issue is full of fantastic interviews with sporting stars. From hearing about Claire Cashmore’s future plans on page 7 to discovering what George Kruis counts as a career highlight on page 8, it’s been wonderful to catch up with some exceptional alumni from independent schools.
A must-read is also Richard Stedeford’s top tips for hosting your own sporting tournament on page 17. After all, sport can, and should, be enjoyed by all.
