It may be true that ‘money makes the world go round’ but there are many schools that are doing their best to ensure that money doesn’t stand in the way of an excellent education.
In this month’s rather large issue (our biggest yet… but more on that later), Steve Wright discusses whether scholarships and bursaries are really the antidote to rising school fees, and how they are breaking barriers to education.
I was surprised to find out how many pupils have financial assistance in some form or another. The Independent Schools Council says: “A third of pupils at ISC schools are on reduced fees and about 6,000 pupils pay no fees at all.” In 2018, Scotland’s Dollar Academy supported over 70 pupils, amounting to a total of over £700,000.
