Tuning in to FM

The role of the school facilities manager is the focus of a free event taking place at ACS International Schools in Surrey

How do you manage a 128-acre campus, which caters for 1,500 children from three to 18 years, with state-of-the art sports, arts, and academic facilities and its own sewerage plant? That’s the questions to be discussed in relation to the role of the facilities manager at a BIFM education special interest group event in April.

Hosting the 128-acre challenge event is ACS International Schools, whose facilities manager, Oren Gershon, will discuss the strategic and operational demands of running schools in the UK and Qatar. The event also includes talks on estates technology issues in schools from FM software provider Service Works Group, and health and safety as a ‘values’ proposition from workplace health, safety and environmental company Assurity Consulting.

“This event is a chance for anyone involved in FM in education to come together to share best practice,” says BIFM education special interest group chair Jayne Townsend.

The event is free and will be held on Wednesday 15 April at ACS Schools, Cobham from 5.30 to 8.30pm. A complimentary minibus service will run from Esher train station to the venue and on-site parking is also available.
