Independent schools will come together discuss key issues affecting the independent sector at the SIMS Independent and International Annual Conference 2017.

The conference will address pupil wellbeing and mental health among other issues at this year’s conference, which takes place on 14th and 15th March at the Beaumont Estate in Windsor.

Attracting around 300 delegates from over 130 fee-paying schools across the UK and worldwide, the event provides a unique opportunity for schools to get inspiration from each other and share ideas for delivering the highest standards of education in a changing world.

Keynote speaker Pete Cohen, a motivational coach and published author, will offer attendees some tried and tested techniques for boosting confidence and unlocking potential that will inspire all school staff and help them support pupils’ progress.

There will be sessions on a range of other issues that schools are concerned about too, including:

  • Victoria Cetinkaya from the Information Commissioners’ Office will explain the latest changes to data protection legislation and talk about the implications of Brexit on UK information protection regulation.
  • Andrew Greenway from Stamford Endowed School, who will talk about how the introduction of an app at his school has allowed details, such as pupils’ attendance, achievement and conduct, to be recorded easily when lessons take place outside of the classroom.
  • Both the School of Research Science and the Alpha Plus Group will be talking about how technology is helping them to improve standards and support the effective running of their schools.

A black tie gala dinner will take place on 14th March, which will be followed by entertainment provided by British Comedy Award nominee, Milton Jones, who regularly appears on BBC’s Mock the Week.
