Buckswood School has launched a new Sports Development Programme, to be run by Chelsea FC Foundation and hosted on the Buckswood School Campus grounds.
The new programme is targeted at boys and girls aged between five and 12 years and will be open to the entire community, not just students of Buckswood School. The new programme of sessions will start in September 2015, running three evenings per week, each night with a different focus to ensure all young people have a great time while ultimately developing and reaching their full potential.
The full Sports Development programme:
Pre Development Centre (5-6 year olds) – Mondays 17:00-18:00
Multi Sports (7-12 year olds) – Wednesdays 17:00-18:30
Development Centre (7-12 year olds) – Fridays 17:00-18:30
The Pre Development Centre will support and encourage children to learn, have fun and develop their football skills in a safe environment. The main themes for this age group are agility, balance, coordination and technical development. Sessions will incorporate ball manipulation and small-sided activities such as 1v1 and 2v2s.
Multi Sports sessions will expose young people to new and exciting sports away from the traditional football delivery, perhaps providing them with their first experiences of sports such as cricket, tennis, basketball, rugby and many more. These sessions will focus on fun and enjoyment but will also still pay attention to skill development and progression through structured lesson plans.
The development centre will enable young people to receive high quality coaching, hone their skills and have the opportunity to train and play in organised fixtures with players of similar abilities. Progression into the Chelsea Football Club Foundation Development Centres is one of the potential progression pathways for young people.
