What a year! As 2015 draws to a close, we've asked top commentators to reflect with us on the key themes of the year, as well as predicting what will be top of the agenda in 2016. The industry has weathered a media storm this year, including the reporting of results, charitable status, fees and wellbeing. However, the sector continues to prove its worth and more and more of you are working in partnership with local schools, whether they're independent, state-run or academies. This is set to continue growing next year and we'd love to hear what you've been up to.
In the final few months of the year we've seen a fantastic rise in girls' rugby participation (read more on page 32) and a U-turn on HEFCE's report on state vs independent degree outcomes. We've also got the annual ISC census to look forward to in January, along with top edtech conference Bett - don't miss our preview on page 44.
Next month we'll bring you a bumper issue filled with expert insights, news and case studies. As Charlotte Avery points out on page 26, finance is a tricky issue in independent schools, so we'll be delving into this further in our special Money feature.
