LEGO Education and Jamie Oliver among speakers at Educated Yorkshire this November

On Thursday 12th November, Educated Yorkshire takes place at the David Hockney Building, Bradford College where around 350 heads, principals, deputies, business and finance managers from across Yorkshire and even some beyond.

Gareth Boldsworth, Director for LEGO Education, will be discussing ‘The role played by teachers in students lives’ during his seminar.

LEGO Education strives to provide a distinctive experience for teachers and pupils that combines relevant curriculum links, the LEGO system of bricks, teacher training and professional development with its unique principles for teaching and hands-on learning. Through this approach to teaching and learning, LEGO Education is helping teachers develop successful pupils who learn more about curriculum subjects and develop strong 21st century skills in a playful learning environment.

Jamie Oliver kicks off Raising Standards in Health in a two-minute video, opening a lively debate around health in our children and ‘tackling child obesity’. 

Myles Bremner, Director of School Food Plan, chairs the following session which brings together sector heads such as Paul Brennan, Deputy Director of Children’s Services for Leeds City Council; Samantha Wong, Leadership Fellow in GP Workforce Solutions for NHS; Nathan Atkinson, Headteacher at Richmond Hill Primary School and Juliane Caillouette Noble, School Programmes Manager for Jamie Oliver Food Foundation.

So what does ‘tackling child obesity’ actually mean? What role does each sector have to play in this? How does that tie in with social and emotional mental health? There is opportunity to have a real debate around the role of regulation, choice editing and raising consumer demand with the overarching objective to help headteachers feel more empowered to put better interventions in place.
