Rydal Penrhos parent set for gruelling cancer charity fundraiser

Richard Peevor aims to run all 31 of the 1,500 ft peaks in Howgill Fells in a single day

A Rydal Penrhos parent is set to embark on a gruelling challenge in aid of a national cancer charity.

Richard Peevor, father of Year 10 pupil Josh and Year 7 pupil Isabella, is aiming to run all 31 of the 1,500 ft peaks in Cumbria’s Howgill Fells in a single day, raising funds for Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust.

Peevor previously canoed from north to south Wales

Peevor is a gynaecological cancer surgeon at Ysbyty Gwynedd, in Bangor, and has seen the effects of cancer first-hand.

Recent years have seen him take part in a number of events to provide funds and awareness for fighting the disease, including canoeing and cycling from north to south Wales.

The Rhos-on-Sea resident is aiming to raise £1,000 for the charity and – at the time of writing – had already received £867 in donations.

Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust is the only UK charity dedicated to women, their families and friends affected by cervical cancer and cervical abnormalities.
