Rydal Penrhos School wins eco award

Rydal Penrhos’ Eco Committee achieved its Silver Award through the Green Tree Schools scheme, run by conservation charity the Woodland Trust

Rydal Penrhos School took part in a number of activities before winning the Green Tree Schools scheme Silver Award, including a writing competition by Year 3 pupils and sharing an assembly created by the Trust about ‘The Man Who Planted Trees’.

Committee members and other prep pupils will now begin work on gaining a Green Flag award from the charity, which will involve Woodland Trust representatives visiting the school for an eco-based inspection to determine whether they are worthy of the honour.

Deputy Head Alison Hind, said: “This is further proof of the truly remarkable work being done by our Eco Committee, and I would like to personally thank Julie Woodthorpe for her tireless efforts to ensure Rydal Penrhos Prep School is a more environmentally friendly place to work and learn.

“To receive a silver award from the Trust is a significant achievement and one the committee is richly deserving of, and each pupil should feel an enormous sense of accomplishment as a result of their efforts.”
