Students cook with top chef Andy Sheridan

The food and nutrition pupils cooked pasta-based dishes with the Michelin trained chef

A group of budding chefs at Rydal Penrhos got to practice their craft with a top chef at one of North Wales’ leading establishments.

The school’s food and nutrition pupils took a trip to Bodnant Welsh Food Centre on Tuesday, February 7, where they were created a number of pasta-based dishes with executive chef Andy Sheridan.

The Michelin trained chef, who runs The Hayloft restaurant at the site, went through the process of a number of meals and was on hand to lend support to each pupil while the made the food themselves.

Following the cooking session, the group were able to sample what they had created and took home a goodie bag.

The visit comes just a few weeks after the Year 10 GCSE food and nutrition group spent the afternoon with Sheridan, where they were taught some of the tricks of the trade from the chef, who has worked under a number of high profile figures including Gordon Ramsay.

It was another brilliant afternoon and I would like to thank Andy for giving his time to help our pupils once again – Lynne Williams, Head of Home Economics at Rydal Penrhos

Head of Home Economics, Lynne Williams said: “It was another brilliant afternoon and I would like to thank Andy for giving his time to help our pupils once again.

“They all had a great time and it was a very worthwhile experience for them all.”
