Beech Hall School wins national award

The school is celebrating after receiving the ISA Award for Excellence and Innovation in Partnerships

Macclesfield-based Beech Hall School has fought off stiff competition from independent schools around the UK to win the ISA Award for Excellence and Innovation in Partnerships. 

The award recognises the school’s local partnerships, including an affiliation with the local Park Lane School, a specialist school for communication and interaction. This link sees the schools work collaboratively to provide all pupils with opportunities not necessarily available in their own schools. For the pupils at Beech Hall, the positive engagement is focused on developing understanding of those with learning difficulties. 

A team of seven boys from Beech Hall School previously raised much-needed funds for Park Lane School by undertaking a huge 230-mile bike ride from London back to the Tytherington-based school. After raising more than double the predicted amount, the cyclists presented a cheque of £12,000 to go towards the renovation of the hydrotherapy pool. 

Other noteworthy partnerships include working with a local brass band and a community football group to share the use of the school’s facilities and engage the pupils. The school also supports charitable causes in its community, including the girls and their parents completing the ‘Cheshire Ring Challenge’ following the #ThisGirlCan initiative. The girls raised funds for ‘Becca’s Wish to Walk’, a local girl with a goal to have spinal surgery in the USA. 

Headmaster James Allen commented: “We are exceptionally honoured and delighted to win this well-established award, especially regarding the fierce competition from other exceptional schools throughout the country. 

“Engagement and partnerships with the local community are essential as Beech Hall shares its resources and facilities, enabling others to take advantage of all that is on offer. Working alongside the community is an important aspect of what Beech Hall offers outside of the school day, and in this respect, we are continuing to explore new opportunities for this.”  

The school was also commended at the event for being shortlisted for the ISA Award for Excellence in Extra-Curricular Activities, in recognition the broad range of unique activities available.
