William Wragg, MP for Hazel Grove, invited children from Brabyns Preparatory School to visit the Houses of Parliament for a tour, to interview him about his role, and to see how the Houses of Parliament operate. The visit was arranged to support the children’s learning in their current topic - ‘Great Britain’ - and also afforded them the opportunity of a boat trip down the Thames.

Lee Sanders, Headteacher at Brabyns Preparatory School, said: “At Brabyns, we embrace a holistic approach to teaching and learning, and recognise that out-of-classroom learning provides many benefits to children in terms of fun, enjoyment and personal development, but also increased motivation and academic performance.

“This is a trip we do every two years ago as part of the children’s topic and we have found that it really enhances their learning and complements the teaching that takes place in the classroom. It is a wonderful opportunity, including travelling on the train and using the underground.”

William Wragg MP, said: “Guiding the children of Brabyns Prep School around Parliament, and attempting to answer their questions, was a real pleasure and a privilege. It took me back to my days in the classroom as a teacher. I was incredibly impressed with their behaviour, enthusiasm and keenness to learn about our political system and its history – and walking round the House of Commons really brings that history to life.”
